Probes of type 86-EX may be used in class 1/2 G/D environments of type E EX ia II C T4, transmitters are not EX-proove but are providing an intrinsically safe supply for the probes.
Different dimensions like g/kg, g/m³ Dewpoint in °C may be choosen by the user and may be configurated in it’s limits and output scales.
Fundamental Notes
- for testing and recalibration of Hygrocontrol transmitters an interactive, software sustained methode is used, which is patended
- therefore calibration solutions with controled concentrations are used, which produce relative humidities of 0, 10, 20, 35, 50, 65, 80 and 95% RH
- the calibration solutions are filled in a calibration chamber of aluminium in which, after a short time, the desired relative humidity will be found
- the solutions are shipped in ampoules of glass, 1 ml each, and may therefore be stored over years before use
Humidity standards with NAMAS-certification
- for validisation of humidity instruments we are offering saturated salt solutions with NAMAS-certification
- these standards are produced in double-walled containers of plexiglass - certificates are valid for 1 year
- at the end of a certification period a new certification may occur, valid for a next 1 year period
- plexiglass containers are easily slid over the probes and are tightened by adaptors with o-rings
- Hygrocontrol instruments with display allow not only validation but also calibration with these standards

General
The Xentaur digital dewpoint transmitters are designed as compact, simple and reliable instruments, which will continually monitor air dryer performance, compressed air quality and dry gas moisture, from ambient dewpoint levels to as low as -148°F (-100°C).
Applications
Xentaur dewpoint transmitters are used wherever the dewpoint in a gas is critical. Applications include: monitoring and control of air dryers, plastic dryers, welding and laser gases, petrochemical feedstock gases, natural gas, clean rooms, glove boxes, transformer and switch gear insulation gases, cryogenic gases, heat treating furnaces, industrial speciality gases and many more.
Electronics
The transmitter electronics take full advantage of state of the art microprocessor technology and offer many advanced intelligent features. With optional dual alarms, analog and digital outputs, the Xentaur dewpoint transmitters can be used as indicators, alarm units or controllers. Meanwhile a loop-powered version is on the market, where the transmitter electronics could be integrated into the sensor holder, due to it's very tiny dimensions.
Programmable Alarm Relays Option
The two optional alarm relays can be independently programmed to switch at any dewpoint with variable hysteresis, which makes the transmitter ideally suited as an energy saving controller for desiccant dryers in "dew point demand" mode or safety cutoff in process control, high power laser, etc. The status of the relays is shown on the display with flashing HI or LO indicators while displaying the dewpoint.
Analog and Digital Outputs Options
Analog and digital outputs are isolated from the sensor. The analog current or voltage output can be programmed to span the full or a portion of the range and is linear to the selected engineering units. The RS-232 interfaces into the serial port of any PC or Mac, for a simple operation with any standard communications program.
User friendly interface
The instrument is operated through a menu driven user interface consisting of a custom LC display with optional backlight, and four push buttons.
Engineering Units
The user can select from the following engineering units:
Dewpoint in °C or °F, ppmv, g H2O/m3, lbs H2O/ million scf.
Pressure Correct Function
Results are displayed at sensor pressure (atmospheric) or by pushing the Pressure Correct key at a user selectable alternate pressure, such as the line pressure.
Automatic Field Calibration
The field calibration procedure is fully automated and the user is prompted through a simple one minute procedure, which requires no additional equipment.
Error lndication
The instrument has indication for sensor open, short or electronic system failure, which can activate any of the alarm relays.
NIST / NPL Traceability Option
Certificates for NIST and NPL traceability are available upon request. Instruments can be recertified periodically at Xentaur laboratories.
