Steady rests type L
Steady rests are an essential accessory for turning machines during the manufacture of long and/or thin shaft type workpieces. Virtually any CNC or conventional lathe can be fitted with a self-centering FORKARDT Type L steady rest, even when space is severely constrained.

The clamping sleeves are interchangeable modular units requiring no readjustment and can be ground by you.
With the double conical expansion of the clamping sleeves by 0.8mm, a perfect clamping geometry is obtained. The repeat accuracy is in the range of 0.01mm. Special clamping sleeves are also available for clamping profiled, internally toothed, stepped or conical workpieces. |

The new lathes and turning centers available today are increasingly being used for the production of very exacting, high-precision work pieces. With precision requirements of 0,01 mm (.0004”), new chucking techniques must be capable of transmitting, within microns, the spindle precision of the machine to the work piece.
FORKARDT offers this micron precision capability within its present line of 3 KCHS power chucks. The unique design of this chuck is based on the proven FORKARDT wedge-hook principle and incorporates a high-strength aluminium alloy chuck body.
This chucking technique takes advantage of our advanced engineering capabilities and offers a more reliable and user friendly operation. Increased production and precision is obtained by this new standard of chucking, and specifically, because of its completely sealed, built in oil lubrication system, it creates a wear resistant environment and allows for a maintenance free operation. This means lasting quality during long term production machining.
Changing jaws without the need for reworking the clamping areas will lead to major gains in your production.
Lasting accuracy and wear free operation are accomplished because of the chucks completely sealed oil bath system.
Vibration problems encountered during hard turning operations can be controlled using the FORKARDT 3 KCHS chuck.
The design features of this chuck emphasize vibration damping properties. Many successful applications confirm the excellent suitability of this application for very demanding production processes.

High production turning operations with micron precision
This is accomplished with the 3 KCHS power chucks used for machinig hard and soft materials. The latest advancements in cutting tools permit the finish machining of even the hardest of materials which provides enhanced flexibility during the maching process.
Start-Stop dynamics is easy on the spindle
The lightweight technique of this chuck, successfully pioneered by FORKARDT yields a previously unobtainable small inertial mass. The small inertial mass of the 3 KCHS product line will provide lasting accuracies as it becomes an extension of the machine accuracy, resulting in more accurate manufacturing.
Clamping repeatability of less than 0,0025 mm (.0001 “)
The hardened and ground serrations assure a jaw change repeatability of 0,005 mm (.0002 “), eliminating the need for the time consuming rework of clamping areas.

Features
The SKM gripping force meters are electronic / mechanical units in compact design. This devices are ready for stationary testing of 2 - 6 jaw chucks. They are equipped with high precision force pick-up heads. The electronics (C-MOS technology) is housed in an ergonomically designed aluminium casing. A microprocessor and program routine ensure the testing operation consistently with highest accuracy.

Rotary hydraulic cylinders
Rotary hydraulic cylinders OKRJ are used primarily to actuate closed centre power chucks. However, when used with open centre power chucks, they provide a partly open chucking system, which allows long workpieces to be pushed into the front of the lathe spindle. The modular construction of the OKRJ cylinder facilitates the addition of specific elements, such as a dynamic workpiece pressure control system or pipes for a water cooling system.

These are closed centre pneumatic cylinders for the actuation of closed and partly open centre power chucks. They are suitable for the same applications as the OKRJ cylinders, but, as air is used as the pressure medium, the gripping force range that can be generated with these cylinders is not as high as that of hydraulically powered cylinders.

rotating pneumatic through hole cylinders
PZLHM pneumatic through hole cylinders in light metal construction have been developed specifically for power chucks operating at speeds of up to 8,000 rpm. The cylinders have a long stroke, low inertia effect and are virtually maintenance free. They are extremely reliable and suitable for high speeds even under continous operation.
