Area of Application |
The temperature detector P is used wherever protection against overtemperatures is required. Specific applications include: protection of primary windings in transformers, winding protection in small electric motors and general temperature protection of small electric equipments. |

Function |
The temperature detector P operates independent from any current supply. Temperature detection is effected by means of a bimetal disk which was first dimensioned in accordance with the required cut-off temperature TA. When this fixed cut-off temperature TA is reached, this bimetal disk will snaps over, breaking a contact system and thereby interrupting the electric circuit of the device to be protected. After cooling down and reaching the cut-in temperature TE, the bimetal disk will automatically return into its original position and thus re-make the contact. The electric circuit is closed again.

The thermo switch O is used whenever switch-on function is needed, caused by overheating or increasing temperature. Specific applications include: cooling fan, alarm signal, controller, timer.

Function |
The thermo switch O operates not current sensitive. Temperature detection is realized by a bimetal snapdisk. When the switch-on temperature TE is reached, the bimetal disk will snap over to close a contact system. After cooling down and reaching the cut-off temperature TA, the bimetal disk will automatically return to its initial position and open the contacts again.

Field of application |
1. The thermal motor protector TM1 is an electro-mechanical safety device, which provides complete protection to your electrical equipments against overheating and overloading and mechanical malfunctions. The contacts close again automatically, as the device cools down.
2. Because of the very small size and high compressive strength it specially can be used for direct fitting in coils of motors and transformers.
3. The thermal motor protector TM1 is single pole and operates independent from any current supply. Contact configuration has two modes: normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO).

The temperature limiter Q is used wherever, on the one hand, protection against overtemperatures is required, and, on the other hand, automatic cut-in of the device to be protected - subsequent to a follow-on cooling down period - is undesirable or not permissible.

Function |
The temperature limiter Q operates independent from any current supply. Temperature detection is effected by means of a bimetal disk which was first dimensioned in accordance with the required cut-off temperature. When this fixed cut-off temperature TA is reached, this bimetal disk will snap over, breaking a contact system and thereby interrupting the electric circuit of the device to be protected. In order to prevent any automatic cut-in of the circuit when the switch cools down again, the switch is equipped with an electric latch/self-holding device. |

By means of a resistor heat is generated by the supply voltage applied after breaking the contact. This heat prevents any decrease in temperature below the value necessary for the cut-in temperature TE. In this was, the switch will keep its contact open, irrespective of its ambient temperature. To close the contacts of the switch, and thus closing the current circuit, will be possible only after disconnection from the power supply . |

Current sensitivity |
In the case of an obvious current increase (blocking current or short-circuit current) a resistor, lying in series with the contact system inside the limiter, heats the bimetal disk to its cut-off temperature TA very quickly. When this cut-off temperature TA is reached, the bimetal disk will snaps suddenly and breaks the contacts of the switch. To get an optimal adjustment in accordance to the application there are wide range of resistor values are available . |

The TB97 is based on reliable bimetal snap-disc technology and especially designed for application when high operating temperatures (from 200°C up to 450°C) are required.
Even if the operating temperature is higher than 400°C the tolerance is within ± 15K.

Description |
When the ambient temperature rises and will reach the fixed operating (snap disc) temperature , the protector cuts out ( normally closed type) or close (normally open type ) the electrical circuit.
After cooling down, the contacts are going back to their original position automatically (automatic reset function).
Within nominal power conditions the protector TB97 works independent from any current value.
