Thread production by
helical interpolation within the pitch

 

JEL®  Thread milling cutters

 

In thread milling, the thread is produced by doing an helical interpolation. The cutting process
enables the production of threads from a nominal diameter of 1 mm (single profile), with
multi-profile from M2. Some tools are also equipped with countersinkers and/or face cutters. 

 

Your PLUS:

  • The thread depth is equal to the drill depth if tool is not used for chamfering
  • Lower torque than with tapping and roll form tapping
  • Short milling chips avoid chip problems
  • High Speed Cutting (HSC) possible

Drilling, countersinking and thread milling in one operation

JEL®  Drill thread milling cutter BGF

 

These patented drill thread milling cutters produce a complete thread, including core hole and chamfer, in only one pass. This requires a CNC machine or a machining centre with helical interpolation.

JEL®  PCD tools

JEL®  tools with Poly-Crystalline Diamond (PCD) cutting materials, thanks to their great hardness and high abrasion resistance, are particularly suitable for the machining of light weight structured materials such as aluminium, magnesium and fibre-reinforced plastics. PCD-tipped tools increase the process reliability, since fewer radius corrections are required for circular milling in comparison to solid carbide tools, right to the end of the service life. Depending on the relevant application, this also enables an unlimited cutting speed range. The application data is determined no longer by the tool, but by the performance capability of your tool machine.

JEL®  taps

HSS-E taps can be universally used
for almost  all materials. Solid
carbide taps in finest grain quality
are available for maximum tool life.
These tools are ideally suitable for
the machining of aluminium alloys
with a high silicon content, brittle
materials such as grey cast iron or
short chipping brass as well as
heavy-duty materials.

Chip-free thread production

JEL®  Roll form taps

In contrast to thread cutting, no chips
are created when producing threads
with roll form taps. The thread
production is carried out by reforming.
In addition to HSS-E tools, solid carbide
roll form taps are also available,
together with roll form taps with solid
carbide stripes, exclusively from JEL®.
The combination of elastic tool body
and hard carbide edges produces
the best performance. 

 

Applications:

  • Materials with elongation of > 5%
    and tensile strength < 1000 N/mm2
  • On simple drilling machines, transfer
    lines or machining centres
  • Also for large thread depths

    thread cutting

Synchro tapping chuck

Modern CNC machines allow synchronous thread tapping without a compensating chuck, also called „rigid tapping“.


The backlash of the spindle causes stress to one side of the cut tap or form tap, respectively. This may result in a reduced tool life and lack of quality in the surface of the thread.


JEL synchro tapping chucks compensate for the length errors caused by the backlash and create the prerequisites for achieving optimum performance from your tapping tools.

VABOS®   Tool system   

VABOS®  is a modular tool system which
can be used in many applications where
the use of a solid carbide tool is not
economical. This is the case if large
diameter differences have to be
overcome, such as an M10 thread with
a face countersink diameter of 32 mm.
In the production of bores and threads
on CNC machining centres, substantial
time savings and quality improvements
can be achieved.
